About the position

Squeeze is looking for a creative and visionary Lead storyboard! With his outstanding talent and boundless imagination, he will have to bring the scripts to life by conceptualizing them in 2D. This person will have the chance to participate in the creative room when projects are conceived, in collaboration with the creative team. He or she will also be responsible for managing the storyboard department to support the scripts and the realization of 3D projects.


Responsibilities

    • Supervise the storyboarding department whose mission is to tell breathtaking stories in support of the director's vision, in line with the budgets and deadlines communicated by the producers;
    • Supervise the artists and follow up with them on a daily basis to keep an overview of all the department's activities and to support the director's vision;
    • Conceptualize and produce storyboards and 2D animatics from the provided scripts (various styles), and pitches them to the director;
    • Collaborate with the director to generate creative ideas for the staging of shots, framing, camera movements/rhythm and orientation, set and character positions, sounds and special effects;
    • To develop the characters' personalities and emotions, and to ensure consistency throughout the show.
    • Establish the workflow with the editorial;
    • Be the key person to advise and guide the production on new projects;
    • Manage the team of storyboard artists and identify the resource needs of the team, build a strong and balanced team at the talent level (juniors, intermediates, seniors);
    • Inspire and guide by setting standards and suggesting creative approaches to achieve desired goals;
    • Participate in the process of evaluating show post-mortems and provide feedback to the team;
    • Responsible for determining the training needs of artists,
    • Determine the work software;

    • Strong ability to express and invent story, action and emotion with a strong emphasis on humor and character;

    • Comfortable with all types of formats: short or feature film, high quality TV series, commercials, etc...

    • Excellent ability to read the intentions of a script ;

    • Requirements

    • DEC/AEC or university degree related to the position (3D animation, multimedia, etc.);

    • Solid experience in the animated film, game or visual effects industry as a storyboard artist on all types of formats (TV, Pub, Film) ;

    • Experience in 2D and 3D animation production;

    • Good understanding of the principles of 2D animation: emotions, game/performance, movement ;

      • Good knowledge of storyboard production software (Toon boom, Photoshop, Story-boarder, etc.) Knowledge in Flix, an asset.
