The main mandate of the Visual Effects Supervisor of the Unreal Cell is to help the team members define and deliver, within the time and budget constraints, the artistic style of each project, while aiming for the highest possible level of quality. While fostering the collective decision-making dynamic that characterizes the Unreal cell, he acts as a privileged interlocutor with the client and the producer. He is therefore responsible for translating and transmitting the desired vision as clearly as possible within the group. He has the experience and artistic skills that make him a unifying leader capable of bringing together the specific expertise of each person to create a coherent whole that exceeds expectations. The Visual Effects Supervisor of the Unreal Cell has a keen interest in innovation and especially in exploring new features offered by the real-time pipeline. In addition to his or her involvement in production, the VFX Supervisor will participate in the evaluation of potential projects in collaboration with the business development team.
Mobilizes the team to establish the best artistic approach to achieve the director's vision based on the work of the production designer.
Ensures that the look of the CG elements produced is consistent with the overall artistic direction of the project as desired by the Director and established by the Production Designer and guides the team to make adjustments as needed.
Maintains consistency of art direction during production and ensures desired quality is achieved, including the use of real-time post-production tools at his/her disposal.
Use a critical eye to ensure that the final product meets the highest quality standards.
Collaborates in defining the overall technical (methodology) and creative approach to each project.
Actively participates in discussions with clients, most often alongside the producer and director.
Collects and analyzes client feedback and ensures that it is clearly communicated to the members of the unit and the various departments involved.
Along with the Producer and other team members, and in support of the business development team, collaborates on script and storyboard breakdowns and project evaluations by identifying technical and artistic specifications and estimating the resources and production time required.
Advises and supports the cell, producers and production management in the development of the production schedule and the allocation of resources based on deliverables.
Provides constant feedback to department heads involved in the cell's projects.
Actively participates in R&D efforts to improve the efficiency of the real-time pipeline and achieve the highest possible quality levels.
15 years of cumulative experience in video games and/or animation/VFX
Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role
In-depth knowledge of Unreal Engine an asset or willingness to learn Unreal in an animation production situation
Technical knowledge of 3D animation workflows and production software
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
